Recent events have brought immense social and societal upheaval, to which no one is immune; and people have long looked to art as a way of coping with, expressing, understanding, and escaping from change in the world we live in. The new exhibit at Arts Center East, Coping: Responding through Art, showcases how artists are responding to global issues, from Environmental Awareness and Natural Disasters, to Politics and Government, Racial, Social, and Economic Inequality, Gender Identity and Representation, Mental Health, and more.

Artists’ Cultivate Hope, Caring during COVID-19 Crisis

COVID-19 has turned the world upside down. Amidst the initial chaos and uncertainty, heroes have risen. We are truly grateful to those on front lines—first responders, the medical community, grocery store workers, delivery drivers, restauranteurs… the list goes on. It is because of them that we have hope… and know that, united, we can make it through the storm and ultimately sail calmer seas. For me, the upside in all of this is that it is truly wonderful to see communities come together--supporting each other, local businesses and individuals.
